US Medical Affairs Lead
Dr. Ray has been with GSK since 2011 and has worked in clinical development and medical affairs in multiple therapeutic areas including lung cancer, neuroscience, immunology, and vaccines. He currently serves as a US medical affairs leader within GSK’s Respiratory team. Dr. Ray received his general medical training from the University of Delhi and his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Ray was as Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Bobby Shah is a pulmonologist with Cardio-Pulmonary Associates at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri. Dr. Shah earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and received his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. He completed his residency training at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Medicine and his pulmonary and critical fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal, pulmonary, and critical care medicine, Dr. Shah has been affiliated with St. Luke’s Medical Group since 2012.

Dr. Adam Smith is a pulmonary and critical care physician with Lahey Health in Peabody, Massachusetts and Assistant Professor of Medicine for Tufts University School of Medicine. After graduating magna cum laude from Tufts University with a degree in biochemistry, Dr. Smith earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in New York, New York. Dr. Smith, a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine with a subspecialty in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. Dr. Smith’s clinical research interests include improving outcomes in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma patients, advanced bronchoscopy, lung cancer, and pleural disease.

Heather has worked with a small immunology contract research organization and was also with Novartis Vaccines Medical Affairs. Prior to joining Syneos on behalf of GSK, Heather was a Medical Science Liaison with UCB Pharma supporting their Immunology therapeutic area.

Jeremy joined GSK in 2011 as a Medical Information Scientist for the Respiratory therapeutic area. Jeremy received his doctorate in pharmacy from Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Buies Creek, North Carolina. Prior to joining GSK, Jeremy had more than 10 years of experience in long-term care pharmacy. He held various roles including Consultant Pharmacist, Regional Clinical Manager, and most recently, Director of Pharmacy Services for Continuing Care Rx of NC. He also gained teaching experience as a preceptor for PharmD candidates in their geriatrics rotations.
Dr. Ellie Donaldson has been with GSK since 2017. Ellie earned her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Syneos on behalf of GSK, Ellie gained early industry experience as a neuroscience pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly & Co. in Washington, DC. In this role, she predominantly supported products in psychiatry and urology. Following her work with Eli Lilly, Ellie pursued her PharmD where she had a strong academic focus on immunizations. She is American Pharmacists Association immunization certified, and has experience in regulatory and international health.

Dr. Stiegler has been with GSK since 2017. Marjorie received her M.D. from Emory University and subsequently completed a medical internship at Georgetown University and an anesthesiology residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Stiegler spent a decade in academic medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles and at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With a fellowship in medical education and a research emphasis in medical decision making, she has held numerous national leadership positions in the specialty of anesthesiology.

Dr. Baylis has been with GSK since July 2016. Dr. Baylis earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine in 1993. He completed his residency in internal medicine at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan and his Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Baylis served as Medical Director at Mylan Specialty Pharma, Allergy in Global Medical Affairs. Also, Dr. Baylis was a Medical Director, Respiratory at PRA Health Sciences and Senior Associate Director, Respiratory at Boehringer-Ingelheim. He is board certified in allergy/immunology and internal medicine and was in allergy/immunology private practice for 15 years.

Dr. Ellison has been with GSK for over 26 years. Mark received his BS Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina, his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University, completed a pharmacy practice residency at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, and received his Master of Business Administration from Duke University. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Ellison was a hospital clinical pharmacist for 3 years, followed by 9 years in academic medicine at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where he was a tenured Associate Professor of Family Medicine.
Dr. Pooja Joshi has been representing GSK since 2017. She earned her MD in Pharmacology & Therapeutics from MUHS, India. During her residency, she trained in pre-clinical and clinical research studies, was a coordinator for the Phase 3 & 4 clinical trials. She was also lecturer for students of medicine and nursing. Prior to joining GSK, Pooja supported therapeutic area of diabetes in the pharmaceutical industry. Before beginning her industry career, she was an assistant medical officer at King Edward Memorial Hospital, India.

Dr. Irwin Buchwald is the Medical Director of Respiratory Care, PPT Lab and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and the Medical Director of Case Management at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus in Lowell, Massachusetts. A magna cum laude graduate of Amherst College, Dr. Buchwald is also a cum laude graduate of Harvard Medical School. He completed his internship and residency at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center in New York and his post-graduate fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. A board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Buchwald is certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. He is fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and is a member of the American College of Physicians, Massachusetts Medical Society, and Massachusetts Thoracic Society. Dr. Vijay Subramaniam is a pulmonary and critical physician with TPMG Lung & Sleep Specialists in Williamsburg, Virginia. Dr. Subramaniam received his medical degree from Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College and completed his internship training at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey. He completed his residency at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and his pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Subramaniam is board certified in internal, pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. Dr. Priyank Desai is a pulmonologist and critical care medicine specialist and currently serves as the interim Chief Medical Officer and the Medical Director of the Critical Unit at NASH UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Critical Unit at LifeCare LTAC Hospital and is affiliated with the Boise-Willis Clinic in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Dr. Desai earned his medical degree at Government Medical College, Surat in Gujarat, India. He completed his internal medicine residency at Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and his general surgery residence at Union Memorial Hospital also located in Baltimore. Dr. Desai completed his critical medicine fellowship at Cooper University Hospital, UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and his pulmonary disease fellowship at USA Medical Center, University of South Alabama. Board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Desai is certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine.
Dr. Richard Redman is a pulmonary disease specialist with the Provident Medical Group in Olympia, Washington. Dr. Redman earned his undergraduate degree from Carroll College and his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed his internship, residency, and fellowship in pulmonary & critical care medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Hinkle has been with GSK for 3 years. Jordan received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. He completed a pharmacy practice residency and a specialty residency in Pharmacy Administration at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Hinkle spent four years in pharmacy administration in both academic and community medicine with the University of Chicago Medicine in Chicago, Illinois and with Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Hinkle also spent two years working for Curant Health in Atlanta, Georgia where the organization focuses on chronic disease state management and provides specialty pharmacy services to the patients it serves.
Prior to joining Syneos representing GSK, Dr. Monali Majmudar served as the pharmacy manager for a 24-hour Walgreens pharmacy in Norcross, GA. Beyond her daily pharmacy duties, Monali oversaw coordinating and updating immunization training for over 100 pharmacy locations while serving as their Immunization Area Lead.
US Medical Expert, Respiratory
Dr. Mark Forshag joined GSK in 2014 and currently serves as a Local Medical Expert for Respiratory. He received his medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Forshag continued at UAB as Chief Medical Resident, Pulmonary and Critical Care fellow, Assistant Professor of Medicine, and Medical Director of the Lung Transplantation Service. Upon departing UAB in 1994, Dr. Forshag joined the Internal Medicine training program at Carolinas Medical Center, where he also held the posts of Medical Director of the MICU and Internal Medicine Quality Assurance Chairman. He received a Master of Health Care Administration at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1999. In 2004, Dr. Forshag left practice to join Pfizer’s Infectious Diseases Medical Affairs group. He moved to Talecris/Grifols in March 2010, also supporting Medical Affairs. While at Grifols, he transitioned from Medical Affairs to the Clinical Development group. He joined GSK in January of 2014 as the US Medical Affairs Lead role.
Dr. David Hill is a practicing pulmonologist and critical care physician with Waterbury Pulmonary Associates in Waterbury, Connecticut and also serves as their Director of Clinical Research. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine and at the Quinnipiac University School of Medicine. Dr. Hill earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology from Lehigh University and his Doctor of Medicine at Medical College of Pennsylvania. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and his postdoctoral fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Yale University School of Medicine. A fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Hill is board certified in internal, pulmonary, and critical care medicine. Dr. Hill is a member of the American Lung Association National Board of Directors and chairs their North East regional board. He is the author of numerous publications and has been the principal investigator of over 125 clinical trials. Dr. Hill’s clinical research has included asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, influenza, pneumonia, lung cancer screening, and acute lung injury/ARDS.

Dr. Brian Tieu joined GSK in early 2017. Brian earned his BA degree in Business Administration at the University of Washington, and his Doctorate in Pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Dr. Tieu’s pharmacy practice experience has included a variety of areas including ambulatory, inpatient, and managed care with Walgreens, Indian Health Service and Blue Cross & Blue Shield. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Tieu worked closely with patients and healthcare providers in several different therapeutic areas including Diabetes, Immunology, Neurology, Oncology and Pain management.

Dr. Robson Lima has been with GSK since 2008 and has worked in multiples therapeutic areas including Respiratory, Immunology, Oncology, and HIV. Robson earned his Medical Degree and MBA in Health Management from the University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He completed his Residency in General & Oncology Surgery in 1997 in Rio de Janeiro. Prior to joining GSK, he practiced medicine in his private office and in the Brazilian Airforce as a surgeon and Intensive Care physician.

Tedi has over 10 years of experience in clinical research and Medical Affairs. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Union University Albany College of Pharmacy where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She completed a 2-year drug development and clinical research fellowship at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and PPD. Prior to GSK, Tedi spent several years in clinical research conducting and managing Phase I-III clinical trials, and in medical affairs developing educational resources for healthcare professionals. Tedi joined the US Medical Affairs organization at GSK in 2014 and currently leads medical affairs work for several Respiratory products. Tedi has experience in Respiratory, Oncology and Infectious Disease therapeutic areas.

Aimee has been with GSK since May of 2018. She earned her B.S. and Pharm.D. degrees from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and her M.S. in Health Professions Education from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. She completed a residency in primary care pharmacy at Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy. Prior to joining GSK, Aimee spent numerous years in academic medicine as an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Assistant Dean of Curricular Assessment at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Megan earned her BS, Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from North Dakota State University. Prior to joining GSK in 2018, she served for more than ten years at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care Center as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, and, most recently, Anticoagulation Program Manager. Dr. McGraw is Board Certified in Ambulatory Care and brings much experience in managing chronic illnesses, driving quality improvement initiatives, and optimizing pharmacotherapy to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Brenner began working for GSK in early 2018. Allison received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Brenner spent many years in clinical practice in the ambulatory care setting as well as in clinical informatics at the Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System, Ann Arbor MI.
Dr. Lucas joined GSK in June of 2016. Dirk received his BS, Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Oklahoma, College of Pharmacy. He completed a Geriatric Specialty Residency at the University of New Mexico, College of Pharmacy. Prior to GSK, Dr. Lucas was on faculty at The University of Houston, College of Pharmacy and The Baylor College of Medicine, Director of Alternate Care Services for Cardinal Health, Director of Pharmacy at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Regional Director for Principle Pharmacy Services and held various positions with CVS.
Thomas joined the GSK Medical Affairs team in 2015. He received his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he focused on genetic engineering. Prior to joining GSK, he conducted a postdoctoral fellowship at National Jewish Health in Denver, CO where he participated in the development of novel compounds for the treatment of respiratory infections. Thomas is currently supporting the Respiratory Franchise as a Medical Science Liaison.
Dr. Craig Thurm is the Director, Division of Pulmonary Medicine as well as, the Medical Director for the Respiratory Care Department at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Jamaica, New York. He is also Director of the Pulmonary Fellowship Program at the same institution. Dr. Thurm earned his undergraduate degree at Yeshiva University in New York, New York and received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He completed his internship and residency at the Francis Scott Key Medical Center, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Maryland Medical System. Dr. Thurm is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. His clinical research interests include COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis, venous thromboembolic disease and pulmonary infections. Dr. Thurm speaks throughout the country on a variety of pulmonary topics and has a number of articles published in peer reviewed journals.
Vanessa Land has been a Medical Science Liaison with GSK since 1999 and has supported several therapeutic areas over her 20-year career with GSK. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. During her graduate training, she also worked in Shock Trauma at the University of Maryland Medical System. She completed a Pharmacy Specialty Residency in Critical Care through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in which she served as Chief Resident. Prior to joining GSK, Vanessa was a Clinical Specialist in Critical Care at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center and a member of a multidisciplinary team in the ICU providing recommendations and interventions in the pharmacological management of critically ill patients.
Dr. Rogers has been with GSK since November 2015. Stephanie received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia. Stephanie continued her studies at The Ohio State University Medical Center where she completed a two-year master’s Residency which focused on both clinical practice and hospital pharmacy administration. Upon completing her residency, she received her master’s Degree in Health System Pharmacy Administration through a joint venture with The Ohio State College of Pharmacy and School of Business. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Rogers spent numerous years in academic medicine at Grady Health System in Atlanta Georgia.
Dr. Brian Carlin is a pulmonologist and critical care physician and is the president of Sleep Medicine and Lung Health Consultants, LLC in Ingomar, Pennsylvania. He currently works for Pittsburgh Critical Care Associates. Dr. Carlin is the medical director for Lifeline Center for Sleep Disorder Centers and Lifeline Therapy Group Pulmonary Rehabilitation both located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, completed his internship and residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, and completed his pulmonary & critical care fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and sleep medicine and has over 25 years of experience in diagnostics, treatment, and continued care. Dr. Carlin has written numerous peer-reviewed abstracts, articles, and reviews pertaining to pulmonary disease and has served on the editorial boards for several medical journals. Dr. Carlin has served in many leadership capacities for medical professional societies and has lectured extensively.
Dr. Groth joined GSK in 2018. Meghan earned her Doctor of Pharmacy Practice degree from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and went on to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Critical Care Pharmacy residencies at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to joining GSK, Dr. Groth practiced as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT and the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA.
Dr. Amy Beach earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a post-graduate residency in pharmacy practice at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. Prior to joining GSK, she spent three years as faculty at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy in Jamaica, Queens, as an assistant clinical professor of clinical pharmacy practice. During her academic appointment, Amy was also the clinical coordinator of ambulatory care at the Center of Primary Care at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York. Dr. Beach joined GlaxoSmithKline in 2003 and has provided field medical support for various therapeutic areas in the metro-New York area and Long Island for over 15 years.
Dr. Kozar joined GSK in 2017. Brian earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University. He completed his pharmacy practice residency in a partnership with Trinity Health System/Duquesne University/Palliative Therapeutics LLC in Steubenville, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. Additionally he has obtained the Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) credentials. Prior to joining GSK, Brian worked in managed care and as a hospital based clinical pharmacist for Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.
Kristin O’Rear has been supporting GSK’s Respiratory Portfolio since 2015. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Wilkes University in 2010. Prior to joining GSK, Kristin had various roles in the pharmaceutical industry including Medical Science Liaison, Community Pharmacist, and Medication Therapy Management Clinical Consultant.
Dr. Tram Knecht has been with GSK since 2018. She received a B.S. in Biology from the University of California, Riverside and Doctor of Pharmacy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to joining Syneos on behalf of GSK, Tram gained industry experience with Genentech with the Managed Care Medical Communications team where she was supporting products across Genentech’s portfolio. She also served as the medical lead representing the Managed Care Promotional Review Committee. Prior to joining Genentech, Tram’s diverse background and experiences included roles in managed care organization, community pharmacy, and medical device industry.
Rhea received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Pharmacy. Following graduation, she completed a Medical Information and Education Residency with McNeil Consumer Healthcare and University of Sciences. During her Residency, she not only supported Medical Information and Medical Affairs, but also Regulatory Affairs, Professional Marketing and the University of Sciences, where she served as a Clinical Instructor of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Administration. Prior to joining GSK in 2018, Dr. Goodman spent numerous years in a variety of roles within the pharmaceutical industry.
Sarah Chang joined GSK in 2018. Sarah earned her PhD in Neurobiology and Behavior from Columbia University in New York, NY. Her research was focused on understanding gene regulatory control mechanisms within in the nervous system. Prior to joining GSK, Sarah gained experience in several areas within the pharmaceutical industry including medical communications, publications, medical affairs, and marketing. She has supported activities in the therapeutic areas of neuroscience, oncology, rare diseases, and respiratory. As Respiratory Medical Science Liaison, Sarah supports the scientific and clinical activities for GSK’s respiratory medicines throughout the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Dr. Cope joined GSK in 2018. She received her PharmD from the South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Charleston, South Carolina. Jessica completed a Pharmacy Practice residency as well as PGY2 in Critical Care at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Prior to joining GSK, Jessica was a Critical Care Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in a 36-bed Medical ICU as well as the Co-Director for the Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program at the University of Florida Heath Shands Hospital.
